2019 Domaine Gramenon Contre Couleur
Michèle Aubery Laurent, the heart of Domaine Gramenon, is one of the most distinguished grande dames in Rhône wine.
From the beginning she and her husband Philippe introduced organic methods and the wines immediately earned recognition. Maxime-François, one of the couple’s three children, joined the estate in 2006 and has accompanied them in applying the tenets of biodynamic viticulture to the vineyard.
The rarest of all of the estate wines, the fruit for the Contre Coleur is from a site north of Vinsobres called ‘La Bicarelle’ that produces exquisite old vines fruit each year. The character was so unique that it was decided to bottle the plot on its own with an extended maceration. The result is as superb as you might expect. Bright, sensual lingering fragrance next to glossy, vibrant and beautiful flavours – the finish fans out and lingers on and on.
