2018 Cascina Tavijn Bianca
First things first. It’s pronounced ‘Casheena T’Varn’. It’s an easy one to mispronounce. It’s the project of Nadia Verrua, a young lady who is considered to be a bit of a wine bandit in her native town of Monferrato. She doesn’t do things the way the others do.
The 2018 Bianca is a blend of Moscato, Cortese and Chardonnay. Some years it’s a bit bubbly but not this year. It’s cloudy and perceptibly orange due to a four-day skin maceration. Flavours veer into the territory of lemon, lime, florals, hazelnuts, minerality, spice.
