Variations of Orange Wine 3-Pack
Three very different macerated whites on display here that really show how any attempt to pigeonhole an Orange Wine style is totally misguided. There's just so much variety!
The 2019 Good Intentions Wine Co. Floppy Giggle Day Semillon is only lightly orange. Mostly it's just cloudy. At 10% alcohol it's a light, refreshing style kind of like a dive into a fresh spring on a hot day. Citrus and lemon pith with a herbaceous edge.
The long awaited first commercial vintage of Momento Mori's estate grown wines is another low alcohol delight. The 2019 Nikau Farm 'Tolone' white receives only 48 hours of skin contact with a very light maceration. At a dainty 9% alcohol it still has incredible structure and presence.
The 2018 Kunoh Narcissus is a wild blend of 40% Pinot Gris, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 18% Chardonnay and 2% Gewurztraminer and Riesling. It feels South-East Asian, full of lemongrass and ginger, the Gewurz adding a lilt of florals.
