Not Quite White 3-Pack
Here's a selection of white wines from across Australia that push the concept of white wine to somewhere a bit different. None of them are crazy into the orange spectrum but all of them show the potential of giving white wine air and time.
The Chateau Acid is soft, textural and silky, with lots of tertiary aromatic fun from the portion of the ferment that was macerated in amphora.
The Semillon for Travis Tausend's 2018 'Handful' is macerated on skins for two weeks but this is still very much a white wine. It's textural but not overly so, with abundant acidity on display.
The Redesdale from Minim is made with Vermentino that's been given some serious skin contact and a bit of oxygen and a lot of love. It’s a great take on the style – rich, round and salty and also a little sour and funky.
