2020 Havilah Skinsy Gris Pinot Gris
Havilah is there fun, quirky sibling of Ricky Evans' Two Tonne Tasmania. These are wines made with fruit from around the Tamar Valley grown by like-minded vignerons, as opposed to Ricky himself. It means the same feverish dedication to quality is applied to a series of wines that are a little more easily attainable.
This is made from two parcels. One spent a week on skins before it was finished in barrel. The other was left on skins for a full 7 months, which was about when the weather warmed up enough to put them both together and put it out in the sun to go through malo naturally. This has the amazing dark pink colour that only comes from the skin contact wines of Pinot Gris! Juicy and delicious.
