2020 Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Chardonnay
Ricky Evans has been making wine under his Two Tonne Tasmania label since 2013, the first year he managed to get his hands on… (wait for it) Two Tonnes of Tasmanian Pinot 🥁. Since then, he's increased his stash with grapes now coming from across the island to be made into beautiful wines at his Tamar Valley winery.
This is predominantly from two of Ricky's own vineyards, with a splash of some Relbia fruit, too, that he gets from a friend's vineyard. Some of the barrels go through malolactic, some don't. It gives a great balance with richness offset by crisp acidity. Fresh and generous. There is a lovely sea spray character that carries into perfectly ripe peach & lemon curd on the palate.
