2018 Yahou Fatal ‘Grigri’ Gamay d’Auvergne
Each year, this is one of our favourite rosés to drink. It’s electric, with very low alcohol and very high acidity. The fruit is very tart, and there’s an underlying smokiness from the volcanic soils.
Gamay d’Auvergne is a bit different to the more common Beaujolais variety. It’s a bit more wild, with more acidity, more funk. This used to be a huge winemaking region a hundred years ago. Wines like this suggest it should be once again.
