2018 Salvioni Rosso di Montalcino
One of the greatest endorsements of any winery is surely Nicholas Belfrage’s of Salvioni “It all adds up to this: Try a bottle. It will cost you - but try it once. If you like it, keep looking for other producers of this style, who might not be so expensive. If you do not like it, you do not like Brunello”. Enough said.
The Salvioni Rosso is just one of those wines that punches well above its weight. A hyper-traditional winery, the family’s style is dark and concentrated, yet ethereal and elegant. A touch tawny and silky on release - everything old-school Italian reds should be.
