2018 Jilly Wines ‘Black Mountain’ Pet Nat
After years of toiling for big wine business in WA, Jared Dixon returned to the east coast to start working on his own wines. Using some of the most extreme sites in the country, he is producing a wide range of impressive, great value wines from way further north than most would think is possible.
The Pinot Noir fruit comes from a vineyard at 1300m above sea level, making it the highest in the country. Fruit is fermented with 100% whole bunches followed by ageing in 50% new oak. It’s light in the glass with sour fruit, and savoury and dark at the same time. Great stuff.
