2018 Jean Foillard Morgon Les Charmes Eponym
Foillard. The very name conjures up the essence of Beaujolais itself—well, Morgon at least—where Jean took over from his father in 1980 and has since become the benchmark for the appellation. Dark, serious wines, well worth the endless recognition they receive the world over.
Eponym is a relatively new project for the Foillards. It’s produced from fruit bought from Les Charmes, the commune’s highest altitude vineyard. Fermented traditionally with whole clusters and aged in old oak barrels, this is a silky, fine version of Morgon, savoury and smokey.
