2017 Tedo’s Marani Buera
Tedo Gzirishvili has been making wines for longer than most of Georgia’s new wave. I’m sure it’s still a massive trip for him to see his wines and the wines of his countrymen on many of the world’s most exciting wine lists.
Buera is one of literally hundreds of Georgian indigenous grapes that were almost lost during the Soviet occupation. This is the first time it’s ever been bottled commercially. It’s been made in an Amber style, like most Georgian wines made with white grapes. This is about as unique as it gets.
