2016 Radikon Ribolla Gialla 500ml
All of the Radikon whites come from low-yielding, organically farmed vineyards which are then hand-harvested and fermented on skins for around 3 months - before extensive time on lees in huge Slavonian oak casks. This is 100% Ribolla Gialla from estate vines that on average are over 50 years old. Full of dried fruits, honey and vanilla aromatics, and incredibly complex and textural.
Radikon’s story begun in the early 1900s, when the indigenous Ribolla Gialla was planted by the grandfather of one Stanko Radikon. The winery was built on soils a complex mix of sandstone, clay and marine deposits and utilised old-school practices of low-yield farming (producing juicy, concentrated grapes) and hand-harvesting. In 1948, Stanko’s parents took over and widened the plantings to include Merlot, Tocai Friulano and Pinot Grigio.
