2016 Beal & Co. ‘Little White’ Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc isn’t a grape that Australian winemakers are necessarily all that good at working with. Most of the time it turns out as either refreshing dry white wine that doesn’t really taste like much, or else it’s rich, slightly sweet cougar juice.
Callum Beal’s 2016 Beal & Co. ‘Little White’ Chenin Blanc manages to find Chenin’s perfect balance. It tastes like golden delicious apples but also sea spray and baking spices. And best of all, it really tastes like great quality Chenin from its homeland in the Loire Valley. There is no greater compliment.
