2013 Damien Coquelet Morgon 'Côte du Py' Vieilles Vignes
Damien Coquelet bottled his first vintage back in 2007 when he was just 20 years old! It's not surprising that he began so young, since his step-dad is one of the greatest producers in Beaujolais, Georges Descombes.
Working with Descombes organic viticulture, hand harvesting, native yeasts, zero intervention in the cellar and little if any sulfur at bottling.
This old vine Morgon bottling from the famous hill of Côte du Py on granite and schist soils is his most serious and concentrated wine. At eight years of age, it is just starting to show some developed earthy, forest floor flavours to balance out its ample red berry fruit.
