2020 Patrick of Coonawarra Méthode Eucalypt Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2020 Patrick of Coonawarra Méthode Eucalypt Cabernet Sauvignon was made to test the hypothesis that vineyards amongst gum trees take on some aroma and flavour of Eucalyptus. Grapes that were in close proximity to Red Gums into were harvested. The resultant wine showed significantly increased Eucalyptus aroma and flavour. This matured into a distinctly Australian Cabernet Sauvignon that expresses the environment and place in which it was grown.
Balanced minty/Eucalyptus aromas and flavours add to the Cabernet Sauvignon’s complexity, creating a uniquely Australian wine. It is a wine that expresses terroir in the true sense of the word.
During a decorated career spanning more than three decades, Patrick celebrated international accolades while working as chief winemaker for several major labels. His focus switched in 1998, to fulfilling a more personal goal, in the establishment of the family owned and operated Patrick of Coonawarra.
Patrick’s eldest son, Luke Tocaciu, has now taken over the family business and continues to produce highly regarded wines from the famed Terra Rossa soils of Coonawarra.
"It’s always a winemaker’s dream to complete the story... To grow, make and sell our own produce gives us an enormous sense of accomplishment."
